Service Calls
Standard Service Call: Inspection & Basic Releveling. If your pool table has remained stationary but hasn't been serviced in a few years and it seems like it might be out of level..... then this is the service for you. We do a complete pool table inspection checking the pockets, seams, rails, cushions, slate level, hardware, etc. We will level the table at the legs, straighten and square the rails, tighten any loose hardware, and make any repair suggestions we see that the table may need beyond the standard services. If the pool table has been moved around without proper disassembly, had it's shimmed removed from under the legs, or has been tilted up or shifted for flooring replacement it may require an Advanced Service Call described below.
Advanced Service Call: With this type of service call, you get a much more in depth re-leveling and tune-up process. If the pool table has been moved around without proper disassembly, had it's shims removed from under the legs, or has been tilted up and shifted for flooring replacement, it most likely will require this service. When a three piece slate pool table is moved around or lifted without being at least partially disassembled and the slate removed, this can at the very least cause the pieces of slate to shift leaving you both an unlevel playing surface and a noticeable ridge at the seams where the pieces of slate meet under the felt.
**Please note that many pool table frames (the wooden beams and/or box section that the slate secures to) tend to bow slightly over time. Depending on the model of the table and the type of frame it has, sometimes this can be corrected, and sometimes it can't. Most of the time it is barely noticeable and only causes slight hook on a pool ball as it comes to a stop on one of the two outside pieces of slate that tilt towards the bow. You will be notified early on in the service if this is the case.**
Once this happens, there is no way to get pool table completely level again unless it is partially disassembled and the slate pieces are reset to level. With this service, we will remove the rails, pockets, skirts, and felt so that the three pieces of slate are exposed. If there is any existing plaster or Bondo filler on the table seams and in the slate screw holes, it will be scraped away and drilled out to be refilled properly with beeswax later in the service. Depending on what the table requires from that point, we may be able to adjust and add to existing shims both under the legs and slate. Otherwise, we may actually remove the slate and all existing shims to get a fresh start. Once the frame and slate has been properly leveled, the seams will be beeswaxed and the felt will get re-stretched across the playing surface and tightened in any areas where it may have loosened over time. The rails, pockets, and skirts will be reinstalled and squared. The pool table will ready to play shortly after completion of the service.
Disassembly & Assembly
Disassemble Only: The pool table will be completely broken down in place and the pieces gathered neatly in the area of the disassembly. It is suggested to have about 7-8ft of open wall space for the slate and frame to lean, a few blankets to place under and behind the pieces, and a medium size box or plastic storage bin for the pockets, hardware, and felt to be put in.
Assemble Used Pool Table: Assuming all of the pieces of the table including the slate are somewhat close to the area and on the same floor that the pool table will be installed, and also that the original felt is reusable and was installed and taken off properly, we will reassemble and level the pool table reusing it's original felt. This includes proper placement in the room per customer request along with our suggestions on spacing, leveling of the frame and slate pieces with beeswax application at the seams and screw holes as needed, and a fresh re-stretching of the original felt. It's playable shortly after completion of the service.
**Please note that if the pool table pieces, mainly the slates, need to be moved from floor to floor after disassembly or before the reassembly, there will be an additional fee depending on the exact moving circumstances**
Pool Table Moves
Move from One Residence to Another: The pool table will be fully disassembled at the first location and all the finished wooden pieces including legs, base frame, skirts, and rails will be wrapped in heavy duty moving blankets. The hardware for the table will be bagged and placed in a large storage bin along with the felt, pockets, and any accessories (balls, racks, etc) for safe transport. The slates and other pieces of the table will be hauled by hand (no dollies or carts being dragged across floors or up and down stairs) out to a covered trailer pictured on the homepage of this site which is fitted specifically for pool table moves. The slate is secured to a padded pallet with heavy duty moving blankets in between each piece. Once transported to the new location, the pool table pieces will be moved in and reassembled reusing the felt unless other services are needed or requested. Refer to the Assemble Used Pool Table section above for specifics on what takes place during the installation process.
Move within the Same Home: The pool table will be disassembled, moved to the new location within the home, reassembled, and leveled reusing the original felt unless other service are needed or requested. Refer to the Assemble Used Pool Table section above for specifics on what takes place during the installation process.
Disassemble / Move to Storage off Property: The pool table will be disassembled and moved in the same way described in the Move from One Residence to Another section above. Once at the destination whether a storage unit, garage, basement, etc. the table will be unloaded, unwrapped, and set in pieces wherever it will be stored for the time being. It is usually best to have a free wall with about 7-8ft of length so the three pieces of slate can be leaned up against the wall and one another, with the frame leaning up in front of them, followed by the smaller pieces like the legs, rails, skirts, and hardware gathered tightly around. It can usually fit within a 7ft long, 2-3ft wide, and 3-4ft tall area when it can be stored in this fashion. It is also suggested to have a medium size box or storage bin for the smaller stuff like corner miters, hardware, pockets, felt, etc and a few moving blankets for any finished wood pieces of the table to be set on top of. We keep all of our own moving blankets and the bin that we supply for the move.
Move from Storage to another Residence / Reassemble: The pool table will be picked up from whatever storage unit, garage, basement, etc. that it is currently being stored already disassembled and moved / reassembled in the same way described in the Move from One Residence to Another section above
** Please note additional services such as Re-felts and Rail Cushion Replacements can be added to any moving services upon request. Also, online pricing is for moves are based on somewhat normal moving circumstances included driveway access on both ends, relatively descent and straight shots in and out of each home, one set of stairs to navigate at each location (2nd Flr, 1st Flr, Basement to 2nd Flr, 1st Flr, Basement), pretty much normal single family home to single family home type moves. Pricing may be subject to change depending on the moving situations so please try to give proper descriptions of the circumstances at both residences when scheduling**
Pool Table Re-felts
Re-felt / Table Tune-up: For this service the rails, pockets, and original felt are all removed from the pool table. The level of the table is checked and adjusted without removing the slate, and the seams of the slate are checked, shimmed, and resealed as needed. The felt on all six bumpers and well as the main bed felt on the pool table will be changed to color of choice. The top section of the pool table will be reassembled and playable upon completion.
** Please note this service is for fully assembled and functioning pool tables that just need a re-felt and minor re-leveling. If the table has been moved around either for flooring replacement or just general relocation purposes without proper disassembly, is only partially assembled and not re-leveled properly after being disassembled, or needs to be moved around from it's current location, refer to either the Assemble Used Pool Table or the Move within the Same Home sections**
Rail Cushion Replacement
Rail Cushion Replacement: This is a two part service that requires the rails to be removed from the table and brought into our shop before the rest of the service can be completed. It also requires a full re-felt as the original rail felt is not able to be removed and reinstalled. Though the bed felt actually does not have to be replaced, the likely hood that it will match the new rails even if it is the same color is very low so it is suggested to just have the full re-felt done. The first appointment usually only takes 15-20 minutes to remove the rails, show you felt samples so you can choose your color, and write you up a receipt for the services being provided. No money is due at this first service. Full payment is not due until the full service is complete. In the shop, the old cushions are removed and the wood behind is stripped and sanded to remove all the old glue and provide a flat smooth service for the new bumper application. Once the new cushions are installed, they are cut down to the proper angles in the pocket areas and new cushion facings are installed. The area at the top of the rail where the new cushion meets the wood backing is the sanded and scrapped smooth so that you barely tell the cushion was ever removed from the rail in the first place. The rails are then felted and wrapped in blankets until ready for delivery/install. At the 2nd appointment, the rails will already be complete so the pockets will be re-attached and prepped for install. Similar to the Re-felt/Tune-up service the level of the table is checked and adjusted without removing the slate, and the seams of the slate are checked, shimmed, and resealed as needed. The bed felt is then stretched over the table and the remaining top section (rails and pockets) are installed and re-aligned so that the table is playable almost immediately upon completion.
** Please note that cushion replacement pricing may vary depending on mileage/distance travelled for the two trips. We do not have customers drop off the rails at our shop for the first service because we do need to see and inspect the table prior to the cushion replacement process being started. This service can be added to any move, assembly, and/or re-felt even if the service has already started **
